Thomas J. “Red” LeMaster
Thomas J. “Red” LeMaster, age 79, of Cantonment, FL passed away peacefully in his sleep and surrounded by family at Baptist Hospital on Tuesday, December 13, 2005.
T .J .was born in Chambers
County, Alabama on July 14, 1926.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Valley High School in Alabama.
He received his undergraduate degrees from Livingston University and his graduate degrees from the University of Alabama, Auburn University and FSU.
He began teaching and coaching in 1950 in Elmore County, AL. His career carried him to Ashford High School, Uniontown High School, and Flomaton High School in Alabama where he started his administrative career.
He moved back to Uniontown and served as School Principal before moving to Orrville High School in 1963.
In 1970 he moved to Pensacola, FL and began working for the School District of Escambia County under then Superintendent J .E. “Bud” Hall.
He had a total of 44 years in education throughout Alabama and Pensacola.
He is a member of the Golden Key Honor Society and a honorary member of Phi Beta Kappa.
After his retirement, he spent time fishing, hunting, gardening, serving the community in a variety of organizations and selling real estate.
He most enjoyed being with his family, following his grandchildren’ s activities, bragging about their accomplishments and Alabama Football.
T.J. was an active member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church where he served in numerous leadership positions.
He was also a member of the Pensacola Civitan Club, Retired Teachers’ Association, Bream Fisherman Association, Gideons International, Myrtle Grove Masonic Lodge #352, F.& A.M., Scottish Rite, Hadji Shrine Temple and Horse Creek Hunting Club.
He loved being active in the community especially his Civitan work with the Developmentally Handicapped.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ross and Clara Carr LeMaster; special Aunt Jessie Mae Carr; sisters, Essie B. Shepherd and Frances LeMaster; and brothers, Paul and James LeMaster.
He is survived by his wife, Willene Smith LeMaster; sons, Bill LeMaster and David (Vicki) LeMaster; daughters, Gloria (Hootie) LeMaster, Sue (David) Wilder and Jeanne (Robert) Pilgrim; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Ryan and Ashley Wilder, Jeremy and Shannon LeMaster, Summer and Beth Pilgrim, and T .J. II and Jacob LeMaster; his mother-in-law; Maggie Smith; several sisters and brothers-in-laws; and numerous favorite nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel South from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2005.
A celebration of T.J.’s life will be held Friday, December 16, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church with Reverend Johnny Johnson officiating.
A private burial for family and close friends will be at Forest Springs Cemetery in Morvin, Alabama on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Ball, Johnny Middleton, Michael Smith, Zeke Smith, Jerry Coley and Ben Sherrod.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Pensacola Civitan Club and the St. Andrew United Methodist Men.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
A special heartfelt thanks goes to his caretakers and the staff of the 1st floor Cardiology Unit at Baptist Hospital.

Willie George (Butch) Austin, 54, a resident of Decatur, Georgia died Saturday, December 10, 2005.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Tabernacle of Praise in Selma with Miller’s Funeral Home directing.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to service.
Survivors include two daughters, Parmie Woods (Charles) and Monique Hester (Arthur Lee) of Selma; two sons, Maurice Freeman and Jamel Stokes, both of Cleveland, OH; eight grandchildren, Keedrick, Jazzmin, Keevan, Joyden, Keenan, Cortney Woods, all of Selma; Nautica Underwood and Sharice Rand, of Cleveland, OH; a special friend, Charmaine Kendrick of Decatur, GA; mother, Ida L. Austin, of Selma; three sisters, Hattie M. Austin Martin Mayes (Archie), of Buffalo, NY; Gloria Austin and Mattie Barlow, both of Selma; three brothers, Irby Austin of Stone Mountain, GA; Rev. Anthony Austin of Selma, and Johnny Suttles of Cincinnati, OH, one sister-in-law, Josey Barlow, of Cleveland, OH; two uncles, Arthur Hardy of Selma, and Claude Young of Lexington, KY; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends.

Thereasa Carter of Orrville, Alabama died December 15, 2005 at home.

Rev. Dr. Percy McInnis Dixon, age 61,
native of Cleveland,
Ohio, he lived in Selma,
AL from 1969-1980 and lived in Jackson, MS until he passed on Wed., Nov. 2, 2005. Funeral Services were Nov. 7, 1pm in Jackson, MS at the Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness USA with Rev. Lance Chancy, officiating and Minister Benjamin Paul Dixon, eulogist.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Rosemary MaGee on June
11,1965 and unto this union six children were born: three sons and three daughters.
Rev. Dr. Percy M. Dixon, whose passion for Jesus Christ and the Word of god ultimately touched the lives of an immeasurable amount of people, will be missed greatly. Up until the minute God called him home; he could not and would not slow down his ministry and servitude for Jesus Christ.
The Late Rev. Dr. Percy M. Dixon, was president, producer and director of “The Soul of Selma” gospel show on WSLA-TV every Sunday morning 8am from 1974-1980. Ella Mae Smith, 67, of Selma, Alabama passed on December 10, 2005 at Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.
Services are scheduled for December 17, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Ward Chapel A.M.E. (809 Philpot Ave) officiated by Rev. Michael Henson. Burial will be at Grove Hill. Directed by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.
Survivors include one daughter, Venita Smith Harris; two brothers, Leo Smith and Charles Smith; 2 nephews, 1 aunt, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ms. Ella Mae Smith was a member of Ward Chapel A.M.E Church, where she was a dedicated member and worker. She served on many committees and boards.
She was also active in the community, writing and performing skits and dramatic presentations.
She retired in 2005 from American Apparel as a household technician.
Ms. Smith was a kind and compassionate person. She never met a stranger.
She will be truly missed by her daughter, family, friends and church.
Emma Lee Laister
Emma Lee Laister, 71, of Selma, Alabama died December 12, 2005 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for December 17, 2005 at 12:00 noon at Shady Grove Baptist Church (Barker), with Rev. R.L. Tolbert officiating the service. Burial will be at Elmwood.
Directed by Millers Funeral Home.
Survivors include two sons Gary E. Laister and Hayward Laister; two daughters Belzoria Williams and Linda Culpepper; one brother Gary Sturdivant; one sister Mary S. Edwards; six grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, two sisters-in-law, eight nephews and 8 nieces.

William Harrell McCullough
William Harrell McCullough, 79, of Jemison, Al, died December 12, 2005 at his residence.
He was born in Autauga County, Al, son of the late Jesse McCullough and the late Hattie Mae Patterson McCullough.He worked as a machine operator in the coal mining industry.
Survivors include his daughter Ms. Nicole McCullough; grandson, Jacob Porter; brother, Mr. J.W. McCullough; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Alice Deramus, Mrs. Dot Chandler, Mrs. Jessie Mae Morris and Mrs. Maurine Croy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse McCullough and mother, Hattie Mae Patterson McCullough.
Friends will be received at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, December 14, 2005 from 5:00-8:00p.m in Clanton.
Services will be held at Milton Baptist Church, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 1:00p.m with Rev. Roy Ingram and Rev. Ricky Patterson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Weaver Family Cemetery, Jones, Alabama.

Mrs. Huffman
is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Huffman was Preceded in death by her brothers and sisters: Leroy “Buddy” Huffman, David Huffman, John Huffman, W. D. Huffman, Nettie Mae Wilson, Annie Richey, and son- Ed Huffman.
She was a longtime member of Valley Grande Baptist Church.

Howard Glenn Hicks
Howard Glenn Hicks, age 91, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 17, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. in New Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Dr. Cecil Williamson and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc.
Mr. Hicks is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Hicks (Ed) Davidson of Mobile, grandchildren, Richard Glenn (Suzanne) Soule of Windsor, WI and Michael Brent (Kymberly) Soule of Mobile, great grandchildren, Laura Ashleigh Soule of Windsor, WI and Brent Dawson Soule of Mobile, sister-in-law, Seleta Cook Llewellyn of Selma, 6 nieces, 8 nephews.
He was a lifetime member of Valley Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and deacon. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hicks was owner of Hicks Lock and Safe Co. He was a long time member of the Selma Civitan Club. He graduated from Selma High School.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Presbyterian Children’s Home in Talladega or Valley Creek Presbyterian Church.
