Engagement: Hammonds and Cottrill

Mr. James Harrell Hammonds and the Rev. Deacon Joanie Hammonds of Selma announce the engagement of their daughter, Jessica Marie Crenshaw, to Mr. Geoffrey Michael Cottrill.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George E. Hammonds Sr. of Ft. Deposit and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Fredrick Levi Hall of Mobile. She is a graduate of John T. Morgan Academy and of Auburn University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and English. She was affiliated with Kappa Delta Sorority. Miss Hammonds has spent five years in Washington, D.C., serving the Bush administration in several capacities at the White House, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and on the Presidential Advance Team. She was most recently employed by a public affairs firm in Washington.
The prospective groom is the son of Mr. John Richard Cottrill and Ms. Jacqueline Foreman of Atlanta. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cottrill and of Mrs. Alberta Foreman and the late Mr. Frank Foreman.
Mr. Cottrill grew up in Atlanta. He graduated from Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., and then attended Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While at Auburn, he played on the men’s lacrosse team. After graduation, Mr. Cottrill worked in Washington, D.C., for five years. He now lives in Delray Beach, Fla., where he is employed in the financial service industry in neighboring Boca Raton.
The wedding will take place in November at historic St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma.

Engagement: Cogle and Wingo

Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Stuart Cogle of Selma announce the engagement of their daughter, Brittany Jean Cogle, to Steven Lee Wingo.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. Rex Alan Wingo and Mrs. Tina Marie Wingo of Jasper, Ala.
Miss Cogle is the granddaughter of Mrs. Douglas E. Kirk Sr. and the late Douglas E. Kirk Sr. of Selma and Mrs. Robert Stuart Cogle and the late Robert Stuart Cogle of Marion Junction. She is a graduate of John T. Morgan Academy. She attended Auburn University where she was affiliated with Alpha Omicron Pi. She also attended Auburn University-Montgomery, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. She is presently enrolled in Auburn University’s Harrison School of Pharmacy.
Her fiancé is the grandson of the late Mrs. Eunice Inez Guin and the late Mr. William Franklin Lawshee of Mobile and Mrs. James E. Wingo and the late James E. Wingo of Empire.
He is a graduate of Walker High School. He is presently attending the University of Alabama where he will earn a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
The wedding will take place Saturday, August 22, 2009, at First Baptist Church, Selma.
