Wedding: Keith and Brister

Miss Chambliss Cummings Keith and Mr. James David Brister were united in marriage Saturday, July 25 at 6 p.m. in the evening at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Selma, Alabama. The Rev. John Bagby officiated the service.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Parke Keith, Sr. of Selma and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Braxton LeRoy Cummings and the late Mr. and Mrs. Chambliss Keith, both from Selma.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Edgar Brister of Mobile and the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Koen, of Chatom, and the late Mr. and Mrs. James Eldridge Brister of Mobile.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of ivory re-embroidered lace designed by Watters Brides. The strapless gown featured a sweetheart neckline, asymmetrical pleated body with a trumpet skirt and attached chapel length train. The bride carried a hand-gathered bouquet of white hydrangeas, vendella roses, miniature calla lilies, white freesia, hybericum berries and lisianthus. An antique lace handkerchief from her grandmother was tucked in the bouquet.
Mrs. Kennedy Rhyne Walker, served as the matron of honor, and Miss Elizabeth Koen Brister, sister of the groom, served as maid of honor. Also attending were Mrs. Laura Puryear Keith, sister-in-law of the bride, Miss Virginia Lee Blackwell, Mrs. Laura Murfee Brown, Miss Clay O’Gwyn Fuller, Mrs. Mary Christie Hale, Mrs. Bradley Clapper King, Mrs. Dawn Lovingood Turnbull, Miss Jean Paden Reich, Mrs. Jennifer Harrison Roberds, Miss Katie Francell Taylor and Miss Brannon Browder Wiley.
The flower girls were Miss Anna Claire, Miss Caroline Aileen and Miss Atkins Elizabeth Keith, all nieces of the bride. The three girls carried pomander balls of white daisies and wore ivory and white French hand-sewn dresses.
Mrs. James Edgar Brister, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Julian Parke Keith, Jr., brother of the bride, Mr. Charles Pointz Brinson, Mr. Kenneth Ray Brown, Mr. Tucker Henderson Frazer, Mr. Mac Bell Greaves, Mr. Joe Seawell Moore, Mr. Michael Andrew Mouron, Mr. John Forrester Otts, Mr. Jay D. Roberds, Mr. Daniel Lloyd Wilkins, and Mr. Donald Alexander Urquhart, Jr.
Wedding music was played by Mrs. Sarah Crisman Morelock, organist, and Mr. Les Boley, trumpeter. Mr. Roy Cummings and Mr. Carty Blackwell, of Selma, read the scriptures and Miller Majors was the crucifer. Maggie and Lilly Youngblood passed out the order of service to the guests and they wore French hand-sewn dresses made by their mother.
The church altar was banked with white hydrangeas, roses, lilies, snapdragons and bells of Ireland. The church doors were decorated with wreathes of white hydrangeas, roses and fresh greenery and the clos gates were adorned with baskets of fresh summer flowers and greenery.
After the ceremony, a reception was held at The Selma Country Club. The couple will reside in Mobile following the honeymoon.
