Engagement: Nix and Gargus
Mrs. Evangeline Walmsley and Mr. Steve Nix of Montgomery are proud to announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Stephanie Nix to Jeffrey Alan Gargus Jr. (Jay) of Selma. Jay is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Alan Gargus Sr. of Selma.
Miss Nix is the granddaughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Jack Key, Mrs. Ruth Nix and the late Goodwin Nix. Stephanie is a 2003 graduate of Booker T. Washington Magnet High School and a 2007 graduate of the University of South Alabama where she received a B.S. in elementary education. She is currently employed by the Jefferson County School System as a teacher.
Jay is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. William Lee Holladay Jr. of Orrville, Ala. and Mrs. Lucille Gargus and the late Alvin E. Gargus of Oneonta, Ala. Jay is a 2002 graduate of Meadowview Christian School. A 2007 gradate of the University of West Alabama, he received his B.S. in concentrated biology and a minor in chemistry. He is currently a student at Life University in Atlanta, where he is studying to become a doctor of chiropractic.
The ceremony will take place on June 27, 2009 at 5 p.m. at Woodland United Methodist Church in Pike Road, Ala.
Engagement: Hinton and Odom
Mr. and Mrs. Randy Hinton of Valley Grande, Ala. announce the engagement of their daughter, Tracey Lynell Hinton, to Zachary Lee Odom.
The prospective bridegroom is the son of Rhonda Renee Odom of Ino, Ala.
Miss Hinton is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Byrd of New Augusta, Miss. and the late Emmit Hinton, and the late Fred and Lynell Mosley of Selma, Ala.
She is a graduate of John T. Morgan Academy. She attended the University of Montevallo and is presently attending Troy State University in Dothan where she is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She is presently employed with Buchanan Timber and Forestry in Selma, Ala.
Her fiancé is the grandson of Mrs. Alene Odom and the late James Odom of Ino, Ala.
He is a graduate of Kinston High School. He attended the Alabama Aviation Technical College in Ozark, Ala. where he received an airframe and power plant license. He is currently employed as an aircraft mechanic at Fort Rucker in Fort Rucker, Ala.
The wedding will take place August 8, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Selma Church of God in Selma, Ala.
