James Henry Huffman

James Henry Huffman, 74, of Selma, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday, September 19, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel Martin and Tom McLemore officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, Jim Huffman; brother-in-law, Louie E. Blankenship; (Ramona); nieces and nephews, Tracie Padgett, Jeff Blankenship, Richard Blankenship, Ricki Franklin (Buck) and Alison Padgett Spencer (Craig); and great-nephew, Wesley Padgett; and special friend, Debbie Sherrill.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia W. Huffman, his mother, Lovie Hewston, sisters, Arthelene H. Blankenship and Lovie H. Padgett, and brother, Walter R. Huffman.

Active pallbearers are Charles Ellis, Harvey Holley, Harvey Holley Jr., Louie Blankenship, Richard Blankenship and Allen R. Stoner.

Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Raymond Brignac, Dr. Nicholas Knight, Dr. Julian Howell, Dr. David Hodo, Dr. Farrah and Dr. Parrish both of Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Huffman graduated from Parrish High School and attended Huntington College. He was also in the Air National Guard.

Cecil L. Abbott

Cecil L. Abbott, 84, of Maplesville, died Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at a Prattville hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, at the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Atchison, the Reverend Rev. Willard Ratliff and the Reverend Rev. Bruce Payton officiating.

Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Abbott of Maplesville; sons, Billy Abbott and Jimmy Abbott of Maplesville; daughter, Myra Williams of Clanton; grandsons, Brad Abbott, Michael Abbott and Todd Abbott all of Maplesville; granddaughter, Jan Freeman of Hirman Ga.; great-grandchildren, Jalyn Freeman, Jessica Freeman of Hirman, Ga., and Jackson Abbott of Maplesville; and one sister, Irene Chandler of Selma.

Infant Kendarious Dixon

Infant Kendarious Dixon, of Selma/Dallas County, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at a local hospital.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Friday, September 19, at Elmwood Cemetery with the Rev. Joseph Coleman Jr. officiating and Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his parents, Quovidis Britton and Courtney Dixon; grandmothers, Alice Dixon and Elaine Britton; grandfather, Charles Dixon; and one sister, Ariya Dixon.

Active pallbearers are Kenny Dixon, Marcus Craig and Derrick Dixon.

John Wayne Bell

John Wayne Bell, 22, of Gallion, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at his home.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 18, at Demopolis Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Don Smith and Dr. Allen Atkins officiating.

Survivors include his grandparents, Lindell Norris, and Mr. and Mrs. John E. Bell Jr.; great-grandmother, Leota Bell; uncle, Tracy Lane; Fiance, Amanda Prescott of Demopolis; uncle, David (Leigh Ann) Norris of Demopolis; aunt, Linda Norris of Demopolis; mother, Gwen R. Bell of Demopolis; father, John E, (Nancy) Bell III of Demopolis; one sister, Lori B. (Ric) Colyar of Demopolis; two nieces, Cameron Thomason and Laura Peyton Thomason both of Demopolis; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Norris of Carben Hill.

Roy L. Marshall

Roy L. Marshall, 75, of Selma, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 20, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home with the Rev. John Mobley officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Mobley (John) of Coatesville, Pa., and Glenda Haygood of Glrn Burnie, Md.; three sons, Earnest Marshall (Brenda), Timothy Marshall of Selma and Robert Marshall Jr. of Atlanta, Ga.; one devoted sister, Billie Jean Marshall; one brother, Benjamin Marshall (Effie Lee) of Oakland, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and two special friends.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Monica and Cynthia Lucille Marshall, one son, James Henry Marshall.

Mr. Marshall was born on Nov. 26, 1927, in Dallas County to the late Isom and Martha Marshall.

He was a well-known brick mason throughout the Dallas County area.

He confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age and served as deacon at Little Rock Baptist Church in Selma.
