What is this?
Davis says the right things
Published Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Last week Congressman Artur Davis came out in favor of writing a new constitution for the state.
Davis is running for governor as a Democrat. He’s intimately aware of the state’s political structure and how it functions under the current constitution written in 1901.
A key argument made by this candidate for governor rests in the assertion of the statehouse in Montgomery controlling all local matters.
If a county or state wishes to change something, the issue must go through the Alabama Legislature.
In theory, if a clique in the Legislature had a grudge against a certain other member nothing that outsider could do would help his constituency if a local issue came up.
None of the other candidates have called for a constitutional convention. In fact the Democratic opposition, Agricultural Commissioner Ron Sparks, lashed out at Davis, calling the congressman “out of touch.”
Sparks said a new constitution would not create any new jobs or keep Alabama families out of foreclosure.
Sparks is either forgetting or choosing to ignore how unweildy the state’s constitution is when it comes to working out deals that could land new jobs, which could keep Alabama families out of foreclosure.
Nationally this state is known for having an inefficient and poorly organized government. That moves us in no direction to bargain with industries.

Again:
Davis will NOT have my vote.
Congressman Artur Davis who are you working for? Your constituency or your hack cronies? I think it's obvious... there's no way in **** that I would support/vote you in for governor.
Strike 1: Voted in favor of Real ID.
Strike 2: Voted to make the Patriot Act permanant.
Strike 3: Voted FOR the bailouts & "stimulus" packages.
This man obviously does NOT have our best interests in mind, if he did he wouldn't have voted the way he did.
Goodbye Congressman Davis, you fail.

Where was Rep. Davis when the state was asking for comments about the possibility of moving the coal ash storage facility from the toxic waste spill site in Tennessee to his district in Perry County? Not one peep out of his office until a few weeks ago; too bad it was months too late and this toxic matter is being shiped by rail into our community every day. thanks.

"Sparks is either forgetting or choosing to ignore how unweildy the state’s constitution is when it comes to working out deals that could land new jobs, which could keep Alabama families out of foreclosure."
How exactly is our Constitution "unwieldy" when it comes to "working out deals that could land new jobs?"
I don't move in those circles, but I understand that industry LOVES our 'climate' regarding our laws. Think of all the car manufacturing plants that have chosen Alabama, and the new steel industry south of us.
I say, "Keep the Constitution; amend when justified and voted upon. (I don't like the home rule mess) Our unwieldy book is a testimony to where we've been and HOW FAR WE"VE COME!!!"

I hope people have the opportunity to watch 'Fall of the Republic' and stop falling into this lame false left-right paradigm. It's a LIE! They are in cahoots! Figure it out people, it's almost too late.
