Alma Gamble

Alma Gamble, 79, of Orrville, died Wednesday, June 19, 2002.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, June 28, at Siloam Baptist Church, Orrville, with the Rev. Curtis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Gamble Cemetery, Old Cahaba, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Lawrence, Prakto, Eddie, Billy and Thomas; three daughters, Louise Lawson, Brenda and JoAnn; four sisters, Gertrude Chambers, Minnie Murray, Delia Moseley (Jerry) and Velma; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a special and dear friend, Julie Mae Flennory.

Carl L. Melton

Carl L. Melton, 81, of Selma, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at a Montgomery hospital.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at New Lice Oak Cemetery with the Rev. J. Thomas Randall officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at the cemetery, prior to the service.

Mr. Melton was the son of the late Edward E. Melton and Grace Adams Melton of Selma. He was a World War II veteran, and after 28 years retired from Sea Island Co., Sea Island, Ga., as a printer.

Willie Lee Ellis

Willie Lee Ellis, 80, of Selma /Dallas County, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at First Baptist Church, 709 M. L. King St., with the Rev. Terry Armstrong officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include family, Jeanetta B. Hill, Inez Gardner and Henrietta R. Sims of Bimingham, Thelma Ellis James of Sacramento, Calif., Richard Ellis and Lolita Ellis of Norristown, Pa., Lyn Ellis Ivey of Livermore, Calif., Barbara Ellis Simon on New Windson, N.Y., Rachel Ellis of Albany N.Y. Ralph Simpson of Nashville, Tenn., Ollis Grayson Jr., a special, devoted caregiver and friend of Selma, and Alice Minora faithful companion; and a host of cousins and friends.

Ms. Ellis was a social worker, and a member of Alpha Alpha Chapter of Gamma Phi Delta Sorority, Inc., and other professional educational and social organizations.

Tom Walker

Tom Walker, 52, of Marion, died Saturday, June 23, 2002 at a Birmingham hospital.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Marion, with the Rev. Walter Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Kynard’s Cemetery, Marion, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jones; one son, Cokey (Lacretia) Lee of Montgomery; two step-sons, Bernard Lee and Jerome Lee of Marion; two daughters, Gail Billingsley of Selma and Dorothy Parrish of Marion; two step-daughters, Melissa Lee and Tara Lee of Marion; one brother, John Henry Walker of Marion; three sisters, Adel Thomas of Miami, Fla., Johnnie M. Walker and Josepnine Lee of Marion; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; several nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland Walker and tree brothers and one sister.

Active pallbearers are Floyd Kenney, Luke Jones, Carl Lee, Richard Lee, David Thomas, Arthur Moore and Anthony Rutledge.

Ethel L. Seabon

Ethel L. Seabon, 67, of Autaugaville, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at a Prattville hospital.

Services are at12 noon Saturday, June 29, at First M. B. Church in Autaugaville, with the Rev. Woodie Melton officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby and Billy Ray Seabon; three daughters, Bettie L. Stevenson, Beatrice Sanders and Valerie Seabon; one brother, Thelmon Golson; four sisters, Emma Edwards, Elba Woods, Irene Hall and Doris Golson; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three brothers-in-law; six sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Willie M. Craig, 75, of Selma, died Saturday, June 22, 2002.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Plain Truth Holiness Church, 3000 Water Ave., with Elder Anthony Grame officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Roy Hicks

Roy Hicks, of Hope Hull, died Sunday, June 23, 2002.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, June 29, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Davenport, with the Rev. J.W. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Fannie Fluker

Fannie Fluker, 60, of Demopolis, died Saturday, June 22, 2002 at a Demopolis hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Moscow Baptist Church, Hwy. 80 W., Demopolis, with the Rev. John Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Julius Perry

Julius Perry, 45, of Demopolis, died Sunday, June 23, 2002 at a Demopolis hospital.

Services at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at the Chapel of Larkin and Scott Funeral Home with the Rev. Sid Rowser officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.

Alfred L. Crowell

Alfred L. Crowell, 74, of Selma, died Monday, June 24, 2002 at a local hospital.

Bertha Lee

Bertha Lee, of Selma, died Thursday, June 27, 2002.

Nellie Pressley

Nellie Pressley, 82, of Dallas County, died Friday, June 21, 2002 at her home.

Services are at 12 noon Saturday, June 29, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. James Beal officiating. Burial will follow in County Line #1 Baptist Church Cemetery in Tilden, with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include seven sons, Austin (Ozella) Crusoe, Donald (Patricia) Crusoe, Matthew (Jeanette) Crusoe all of Selma, Claude (Antoinette) Pressley and Matthew (Micky) Pressley both of Detroit, Mich., Martin Pressley and Lee David (Rosetta) Pressley both of Pensacola, Fla.; three daughters, Mary (James) Hearnes and Emma (Ernest) Sanders, both of Chicago, Ill., and Peggy Calhoun of Selma; one brother, Beulith (Kity Sue) Gould of Pensacola, Fla.; one sister, Rosie Ishman of Pensacola, Fla.; 36 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; six daughters-in-law; one uncle, Mose Robinson Sr. of Pensacola, Fla.; aunt, Brunetta G. Williams of Selma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Austin and Safronia Gould, a daughter, Fronie Pressley, a son, Joe Pressley, four sisters, Dorothy Mitchell, Jennie Boykin, Emma Reynolds and Tanzie Boykin, a sister-in-law, Lucille Gould, and brother, Hamp Gould Sr.

Active pallbearers are her grandchildren.

Flowerbearers are family and friends.
