It may have taken several months and two drug raids to accomplish, but hard work, good informants and thorough investigating paid off, leading to one of the biggest city drug busts in recent years, said Selma Police Chief Robert Green.

The Selma Police Department, with assistance from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested what Green termed “some of the major drug suppliers in the Dallas County area.”

In the first drug raid, which occurred on May 8 of this year, Kit Thomas Brown, 36, of Montgomery, also known as “Pumpkin,” along with Timical Radrecus Hall, 25, of Selma, also known as “Tee,” two major drug suppliers in Selma, were apprehended, said Green.

Brown was charged with two counts of cocaine trafficking, one count of unlawful possession of controlled substances and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana second degree.

Brown has also been indicted by a federal grand jury for distributing crack cocaine and conspiracy to distribute over eight kilograms of cocaine. Brown was sent to the Dallas County Jail with no bond and is awaiting transfer to a federal holding facility.

In addition, Hall was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances, and unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree.

Over a month later, after receiving several tips, Green said all three law enforcement agencies launched a second drug raid on Friday, June 28, where along with narcotics, over $13,000 was seized as well as several rifles and shotguns.

Green added that during the raid, officers were able to apprehend and detain several drug dealers, including two major suppliers.

Officers arrested Lemarcus Antwan Snow, 23, of Selma, also known as “Snowman,” David Lee Jones, 31, of Selma, also known as “D.J.,” Lamont Odell Sigler, 28, of Selma, known as “Tadpole,” and Eric Oneil Bolden, 20, of Selma.

Snow was charged with two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking in cocaine. Officers also seized $10,000 in cash from Snow as well as seizing two automobiles, Green said.

Jones was charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances after a small amount of crack cocaine was found on his person, Green said. Police also seized $238 and one automobile from Jones’s possession.

Sigler was charged with three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, while Bolden was charged with four counts on the same charge.

After police detectives captured Sigler, said Green, the drug investigation eventually led them to the D and T Car Stereo shop on Providence Avenue.

After obtaining a search warrant at the business, police searched the business, finding several stolen rifles and shotguns.

They arrested the business’s owner, Derrick LeShune Washington, 29, of Selma, charging him with four counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, after police said they found narcotics in Washington’s possession. Additionally, $3,000 in cash, as well as one automobile, were seized from Washington.

In commenting on the arrests made by law enforcement,

Green said, “Our police department, along with other law enforcement agencies, made a fine effort in apprehending all the suspects and should be congratulated for their effort.”

He added that since the investigation is on-going, further arrests are expected to be made and that additional charges will be brought against those who have already been arrested.
