Raymond M. Bowden

Raymond &uot;Mukie&uot; M. Bowden, 48, of Selma, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife Ginger Bowden; daughters, Johnnie L. Bowden and Alisha Bowden of Tuscaloosa; son, Stephen Bowden of Tuscaloosa; mother, Frances K. Bowden; sisters, Darlene (Wayne) Colbert of Phenix City and Tammy L. (Joey) Tucker of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Mr. Bowden was preceded in death by his father, Raymond G. Bowden.

Active pallbearers are Wayne Averett, Billy Bundy, Ricky Lenoir and Joseph Tucker Jr.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Mr. Bowden served in the U.S. Army for six years.

Annie M. Simpson

Annie M. Simpson, 89, of Dallas County, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at a local hospital.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Springhill Baptist Church with the Rev. C. L. Franklin officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, John W. Farris of Pittsburgh, Pa., William L. (Katherine) Simpson of Birmingham and Larry Simpson of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ellen Rushton Vaughan

Ellen Rushton Vaughan,

died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Montgomery.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at Live Oak Cemetery, Selma with the Rev. Dr. James I Walter, curate of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating.

Survivors includea sister, Flora Rushton Haynie of Montgomery.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus Reid and Mildred Sankey Rushton of Evergreen, the widow of the late Paul Turner Vaughan of Selma.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wilmer Hall Children’s Home, 3811 Old Shell Rd., Mobile, AL 36608.

Edwin Lewis Golson

Edwin Lewis Golson, of Montgomery, died Saturday, July 12, 2003.

Graveside services was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Haley officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Golson; one son William Lewis Golson; one daughter, Nancy Carol Golson; three grandchildren all of Montgomery; one sister, Mary G. Patterson of Birmingham; several nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Thelma and Jim McHaney.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Montgomery Civitan Club and Blue Gray Fast Pitch Softball Association.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one’s favorite charity.

Fannie Nunn Moore

Fannie Nunn Moore, 98, of Selma, died Sunday, July 20, 2003, at an assisted living facility.

Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Rev. John Corey, the Rev. Art Hartley and Dr. Glenn Langner officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors includes a son, Tyler G. (Mary Louise) Moore of Selma; daughters, Marion M. (Marvin) Sumerlin of Jones and Jane M. (Paul) Klinner of Prattville; one sister, Zahlia N. Haydostian of Winnetka, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 22 great-grand children; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives.

Active pallbearers are grandsons.

Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, John Tyler Moore and two sons, Charney McKay Moore and Franklin R. Moore, four sisters, Ada Nunn Lambert, Alberta Nunn Watson, Bernice Nunn Pace and Vonceil Nunn Wheeler; four brothers, Morris Nunn, Charley Nunn, Otto Nunn

and Marshall Nunn..

Mrs. Moore was a longtime employee of Cohen’s Department Store.
