William Jackson Ballard Jr.

William Jackson &uot;WJ&uot; Ballard Jr., died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Polk Vansandt officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Perry Ballard of Selma; son, William Perry Ballard and wife Jane Guillot Ballard of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; brother, Richard L. Ballard of Livermore, Calif.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Doug (Pat) Ballard of Albuquerque, N.M.; niece, Karen Ballard Molzen of Las Cruces, N.M.; and nephews, Kelly and Kevin White.

Active pallbearers are Catesby ap R. Jones, Thomas ap R Jones, Howard Tinsley, Charles Pollack, Catesby ap C Jones, Freeman Suttles and Archie Reeves.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Cahaba Hospice.

Mr. Ballard was a member of the Selma Exchange Club; past president and recording secretary. He was a long time volunteer for the Dallas County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was a decorated World War II veteran.

Louise Moseley Crocker

Louise Moseley Crocker, 93, of Natchez, Miss., died Saturday, October 25, 2003, at a nursing home in Natchez, Miss.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 28, at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Sandy Simmons officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include son, John Franklin Crocker and wife Letta of Natchez, Miss.; daughter, Mildred Marie Crocker Stannard and husband James P. Stannard of Houston, Texas; sisters, Ethel Grey Mosley Weir and husband Dr. A.B. Weir Jr. of Germantown, Tenn., and Eunice McCartney of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mary Louise Crocker Rush and husband Howard of Richmond Hill, Ga., Rebecca Marie Crocker Little and husband Christopher of Suwanee, Ga., Rachel Jean Crocker of Gulfport, Miss., and Sean Stannard and wife Monica of Houston, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Alex, John, Garrett, Preston and Caitlyn.

Family visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. on Tuesday at Lawrence Funeral Home.

Willie Brown, of Selma, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, in Selma.

Jessie M. Messer, 86, of Selma, died Monday, October 27, 2003, at a local nursing home. Services will be announced later by Lawrence Funeral Home.

Arland Alfred Chandler

Arland Alfred Chandler, 63, of Andalusia, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at a Montgomery hospital.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Chappelle officiating. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include son, Donald (Jennifer) Chandler of Selma; sister, Marlene Calvert of Maplesville; grandchildren, Jared Chandler and Kristen Chandler both of Selma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are Aubrey Smitherman, Aubrey Latham, Malcom Smitherman, Ray Smitherman, David Latham and T.J. Latham.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Allen Dunne Greene

Allen Dunne &uot;A.D.&uot; Greene, 61, of Prattville, formerly of Stanton, died Monday, October 27, 2003, at his home.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Chapel of Prattville Memorial, with Rev. Scott Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery in Stanton, with Prattville Memorial Chapel directing.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Allen J. and Patsy Greene of Faunsdale; one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda G. and Kenny Morgan of Arlington;

two grandsons, Allen &uot;Buddy&uot; and David Morgan, Arlington; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Evie Jo Greene; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Charles Causey and Joan and Lloyd Fuqua; several nieces and nephews, Dan Greene, Angle Hale, Vance Causey, Vanessa Mott and Ashley Fuqua; three great nephews; one great niece; special friends and caregivers, Joni Ravencraft and Charlie Brown, with whom he had made his home; and devoted friends, Sam and Marlene House.

Special appreciation is extended to Odyssey Hospice for their care and support.

He was preceded in death by his parents L. J. &uot;Jimmie&uot; and Ella Sue McFarland Greene and a special beloved niece, Alicia Fuqua.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday Other visiting hours for family and friends will be held at the home of Joni Ravencraft and Charlie Brown at 702 Thomas Avenue, Prattville.

Mr. Greene retired from Union Camp after 36 years of employment. He Was an avid fan of Dale Emhart and The Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team, and will long be remembered for his famous motorcycle ride through Sully’s Cafe.
