Valley Grande hearing delayed

Valley Grande residents must wait a bit longer for their day in court.
According to Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Marvin Wiggins, J. Doyle Fuller &045;&045; the attorney representing Valley Grande residents supporting incorporation &045;&045; couldn’t attend Monday’s scheduled hearing concerning Valley Grande’s incorporation.
The hearing &045;&045; originally scheduled for Monday at 1:30 p.m. &045;&045; is now scheduled for July 14 at 3:00 p.m.
According to Susan Copeland &045;&045; an attorney representing Valley Grande residents supporting incorporation &045;&045; the hearing concerns an appeal filed by Collins Pettaway, attorney representing Valley Grande residents opposing incorporation.
Pettaway said Valley Grande’s petition of incorporation was incorrect. Some alleged problems with the petition include an incorrect metes and bounds description and improper petition signatures, according to Pettaway.
Copeland said she would file a motion today asking the court to dismiss Pettaway’s writ. The motion to dismiss, Copeland added, could possibly come before Wiggins before the July 14 hearing.
