Lady Saints deserve the praise of the city

There is March Madness in Selma and Dallas County.
The madness in our community is one that is revolving around high school basketball.
For the first time the Selma Lady Saints will be traveling to the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center on Friday
to play for all the marbles. The Saints have pulled off an impressive season only losing one game and winning over 30 games.
That is a feat that is hard to beat.
Not only do fans of Selma High have a team to be proud of, but so do fans of Southside High. The Lady Panthers basketball team played Wednesday in the Class 4A final four.
They played hard and came up short but still have pride of knowing they were among the state’s elite.
What the community needs to remember is that the experience the young women of the city and county are enjoying is a memory they will cherish for years to come.
It proves many things to have a team succeed to the level as has these.
It shows that a leader the coach has worked hard and has found a way to lead a group of people.
It proves a group of young women are working together for a common goal.
This is a lesson not only for sports but for life as well.
This sets a tone for these young women to be successful in other endeavors they will face in the future.
The Selma Times-Journal wishes the Lady Saints success and is very proud of the efforts and the presence in the state tournament shown by Southside.
The parents and the community need to remember as well to make plans to travel to Birmingham and support these students as they reach for the pot at the end of the rainbow.
