Lady Saints bounce back for win

After dropping a double-header to Dallas County on Tuesday, the Selma High Lady Saints responded with a 17-11, come-from-behind victory over Verbena on Thursday.

The Saints erupted for 23 hits.

They were led at the plate by Jorielle Scott who had four singles and four RBIs.

Jessica Jones added a single a double and three RBIs.

April Parker had three singles, a double, a run batted in and four runs scored.

Tyease Jones had three singles and two runs scored while Nicole Mooney had two singles and an RBI.

Shanetta Craig had a double, a single and an RBI.

Jasmine Yates closed out the attack with a single and an RBI.

The Saints 11-1 after innings but the bats really began to cook in the top of the fourth with when the Saints scored four runs.

The defense aided the rally as they held Verbena scoreless.

In the top of the sixth, the bats pounded out eight runs for a 13-11 Selma lead.

In the top of the seventh, the Saints added four more to provide the final winning margin.

Venetia Eaton got the win on the mound, picking up three strikeouts in the winning effort.
