Dallas wins again

In a tune-up for Friday night’s Area title game with Bibb County at Montevallo, Dallas County dispatched Maplesville, 14-2 Wednesday at home.

Led off hitter Roman Paxton sparked the attack, reaching base four times and scoring four runs despite not getting a hit.

Chase Knight added a triple, a single, five RBIs and two runs scored in the winning effort.

Justin Irwin pitched four innings and struck out 10 batters in the winning effort for Dallas County and he walked, singled and scored twice.

Clint Cooper had a triple and a run scored.

Justin Hollis singled and scored and Tyler Hollis had a double.

Shane Moreland added a pair of singled and Dalton Anthony got a base knock as well.

Clay Massey singled, walked twice and scored three runs.

For Maplesville, Jeremy White had two singles and a run scored.

Josh Smith added a single and a run scored.

Each team scored a run in the opening stanza, but Dallas County took control in the bottom of the second.

Irwin, Massey and Paxton walked to load the bases for Knight who singled two runs home. Cooper drove a run home with a sac fly and Hollis singled another home.

Dallas County blew the game open in the third inning.

Massey ripped a one-out single and Paxton reached base on an error,

Knight tripled home both runners before Cooper reached on an error.

J. Hollis’ fly ball brought another runner home.

The Hornets batted around in the bottom of the fourth.

Dalton Anthony ripped a one-out single to get the inning rolling.

Irwin followed with a single and Massey walked.

Paxton walked as well.

After a flyout, Cooper tripled and J. Hollis walked.

T. Hollis doubled two more runners home.
