On Sunday morning, a fire destroyed an abandoned home at the intersection of Weaver Street and Minter Avenue.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home when residents on Minter called in the fire.

Charles Carter was visiting a friend on Minter when he saw the home burst into flames.

Battalion Chief Mike Stokes worked the scene and said the home had been abandoned for some time.

Stokes said the owner of the home hasn’t been contacted, and no one is entirely sure who it is.

Firefighters got the call for the fire at 12:46 a.m. They were on the scene at 12:48 a.m. The fire was out and all hot spots extinguished by 2:09 a.m.
