Lorenzo Crawford Braxter Sr.
Lorenzo Crawford Braxter Sr., 75, of Selma, died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at a local hospital.
Graveside services are at 12 noon, Monday, May 17, at Rose Hill Cemetery with Elder W. Johnson officiating and Walker Mortuary directing.
Survivors include one son, Lorenzo Crawford (Floraetta) Braxter Jr. and children, Alisa and Andrew Braxter; one daughter, Gail Braxter-King; two brothers, Milton (Ardelia) Braxter of Cleveland,Ohio and Edwin Braxter of Orrville; one sister, Lorene Lillian Braxter of Selma; six nephews; two nieces.
Active pallbearers are Andrew Gilford, Samuel Gayle, Jessie Furr, James McGrue, Calvin Brantley and Willie Taylor.
Mr. Braxter was a member of Mt. Calvary AME Church. He had three different patents: Control heat in pressing combs; Towel bath brush and security mail boxes.
Mr. Braxter, a retired businessman was born on Sept. 29, 1928, the sixth child born to Atrill
Braxter and Mamie Thompson Braxter. On Sept. 25, 1952 he married Marie Smith.
He attended Dallas County Training School in Beloit. He graduated in May of 1945. He was employed with the Tutwiller Hotel. He later joined the United States Army serving in New Jersey prior to Europe and Germany. He was honorable discharged from the United States Army.
He furthered his education in Chicago as a journalist and business education from Cleveland, Ohio. Not satisfied with working for the community, assisted the youths in learning to repair appliances. He was also the owner of A-1 Appliances Service.

Thomas Jackson Phillips
Thomas Jackson “Tommy” Phillips, 55, of Camden, died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, at a Montgomery hospital.
Services were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 14, at Camden Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Lee officiating. Burial follow in Canton Bend Methodist Cemetery with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Phillips; four daughters, Margaret Carlisle (Bart) of Birmingham, Meredith Angelette (Paul) Milbrook, Melanie Lawrence (Chris) of Atlanta, Ga. and Ashley Biggs (John) of Demopolis; five grandchildren; two sisters Linda Matthews, Marie Norris; two brothers, Bruce Phillips and Don Phillips.
Flowers will be received or donations may be made to Camden Methodist Church or the American Cancer Association.
Homer Arthur LeCroy
Homer Arthur LeCroy, 86, died Friday, May 14, 2004, in Marion.
A private burial was held Saturday, May 15, 2004, at 3:30 p.m. at the Leak Memory Chapel in Montgomery. A memorial service will be held Monday, May 17, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Siloam Baptist Church in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Anderson Eagle LeCroy; a brother, Mac Alexander (Louise) LeCroy; a daughter, Charlene (Bruce) Nichols; a son, Charles (Ann) LeCroy; six grandchildren, Aimee (Brad) Turner, Charla (Kent) Altom, Keeli (Wesley) Osmer, Chad Nichols, Charlie LeCroy, Leigh (Vanessa) LeCroy and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. LeCroy is also survived by members of Mrs. LeCroy’s family; a daughter, Jean (Billy) Moore; a son, Pat (Susan) Eagle; four grandchildren, Sutton (Russell) Gibbs, Scott (Leigh Ann) Moore, Lauren Eagle, Austin Eagle and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. LeCroy was preceded in death by his former wife, Charlie Mae Jackson LeCroy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Siloam Baptist Church, 505 Washington St., Marion, Ala., 36756.
Mr. LeCroy was a deacon and faithful member of Siloam Baptist Church for the last 59 years. He was a respected community leader and businessman. He established LeCroy Furniture and Appliance Company in 1945 and remained active with the business until recently. Mr. LeCroy was born in Coosa County.
