Just over a year ago Dallas County made it known that they supported the need for more funding to touch the heart of Selma and Dallas County’s school systems.
When Governor Riley proposed his amendment one education bill, Dallas County was one that unanimously supported the vote.
With an 80% showing the statement was made that Dallas Countians are ready for the education system to see increases in its resources.
The amendment failed miserably across the state and with the vote out went the hope to see the revenue generation that was desired.
However, Dallas County License Commissioner Susie Watkins is offering a deal that will help put additional dollars into the school system.
The commissioner’s office is offering “Helping Schools” license tags that cost $15 extra.
Of that $15, $11.63 will go to the city or county school designated by the vehicle owner.
Although the school does not have the choice of allocating the funds as they wish, the monies will go toward school supplies.
The money for purchasing the supplies will be in demand at the beginning of the school year, which is in a matter of weeks.
Now is the time to purchase the “Helping Schools” tags.
Do not wait until your tag expires; make the investment into Selma and Dallas County Schools now.
The community voiced their opinion that the education system needed extra monies, now is the time to show it by investing an extra $15.
