James Theodore Anderson

The Rev. James Theodore Anderson, of Selma, died Thursday, August 26, 2004, in Selma.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 2, at Tabernacle Baptist

Church, Broad Street, with the Rev. Rodney Morton officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a devoted and loving wife, Mary E. Anderson; four children, Foya Williams of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Eddie Anderson (Bernadine)of Opp, Woodrow Anderson (Alma) of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Oscar Anderson (Marie) Kathlene, Ga.; one step-daughter, (Dora Mays) of Mobile; two sisters, Voncille (Oscar) Anderson and Lenora Anderson all of Opp; 25 grand children; 30 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, six brothers, three sisters and two.

Rev. James Theodore Anderson, was born to Cleveland And Polly Anderson on November 15, 1912 in Elba. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Elba, under the leadership of Rev. Berry. He was ordained as a minister under the leadership of Rev. Berry and continued to worship and work faithfully until he moved to Selma. He later united with the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death.

Rev. Anderson, was married to the late Eliza McGready Anderson. To this union, six children were born. He was later married to Mary E. Anderson in 1956.

He was a devoted and loving pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church in Selma, for 38 years, and Mt. Zion M. B. Church in Marion Junction, for 36 years.

He served as vice president of the Dallas County District Association and was a member of the Selma Ministerial Alliance. He also attended Selma University.

Benjamin Franklin Skelton

Benjamin Franklin Skelton, 93, of Selma, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at his home.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 1, at the Chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with the Rev. James Hodgens officiating.

Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Skelton of Selma; step-son, Charles Kohler and wife Tammy of Selma; step-daughter, Carol Wilbanks and husband, Joe of Cairo, Mo.; and sister, Margaret Robertson of Butler.

Family visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Anne Marie Bryant

Anne Marie Bryant, 47, of Birmingham, formerly of Selma, died Sunday, August 29, 2004, at a Birmingham.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by J.H. Williams and Sons Funeral Home.
