Lessie Mae Coleman
Lessie Mae Coleman, 80, of Selma, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at her home.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, at New Bride Baptist Church with the Rev. Curtis Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include four sons, Elder Paul Coleman of Selma, Rev. Jessie J. Coleman, Mack Coleman and Howard Coleman Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Pauline Johnson and Essie Motley of Cleveland, Ohio; one brother, Rev. Clarence Jackson; one sister, Annie Turner of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends; one son-in-law, James Motley.
She was preceded in death by parents and husband.
Active pallbearers are sons and grandsons.
Otha Bell
Otha Bell, 80, of Marion Jct., died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at a local nursing home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. B.A. Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Green Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert Bell of Selma and Jesse Bell Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; one sister-in-law, Ella Lee Bell; five nieces; and five nephews.
Active pallbearers are nephews, Randy Williams, Samuel Williams, Steven Strother, Walter Jones Jr., Tony Bell and John Bell.
James Reese
James Reese, 46, of Demopolis, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Friendship Baptist Church in Demopolis, with the Rev. Henry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.
The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 1 p.m.
Fannie M. James
Fannie M. James, 47, of Selma, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at a local nursing home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Christian Light Baptist Church with the Rev. Booker T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in William Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include her husband, James D. James; mother, Eva Mae Moore; brothers, Willie More of Montgomery and Charlie Moore of Safford; sister, Laura Moore of Safford; one aunt, Mandy Hardy; one great-aunt, Sarah Hall; a host of sisters and brothers-in-law; and devoted friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Ulysses Moore and a sister, Rebecca Pettway.
Active pallbearers are Jerome Small, Henry Seltzer, James Richardson, Jimmy Hardy, Arthur Hall and James Hall.
Henry Williamson Sr.
Henry Williamson Sr., 52, of Coatopa, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Bethel-Pine Baptist Church in Coatopa, with the Rev. Floyd Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.
Emma Bush
Emma Bush, 86, of Newbern, died Saturday, September 25, 2004.
Services are at 12 noon Saturday, October 2, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Bratcher officiating. Burial will follow in Norfleet Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include one brother, Lucius (Glady) Childs; one sister, Mallie Eubank; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers are nephews.

Lorenzo Muse, 40, of Orrville, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at a Birmingham hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.
James Ennis Williams
James Ennis Williams, 64, of Forkland, died Friday, September 24, 2004, at his home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 2, at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church, Forkland, with the Rev. Clayborn May officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin and Scott Funeral Home of Demopolis directing.
John William Meacham Jr.
John William Meacham Jr., 84, of Camden, died Wednesday, September 29, 2004, at his home.
Services are at 1 p.m. Friday, October 1, at Camden Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Cole officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Old Repton Cemetery with Dunklin-Herndon Funeral Home of Camden directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred B. Meacham; three daughters, Mary L. Mitchem (Kenneth) of Defuniak Springs, Fla., Beckie Quarrier (Wayne) of Pensacola, Fla., Cathy Ricks (Robert) of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Gayle Meacham of Pensacola, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Shackleford and Lily Eleanor Dailey of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Albert Meacham of Mobile; and Charles Meacham of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, John W. Meacham III.
The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pilots for Christ, Monroeville.
Pearlie Mae Gordon
Pearlie Mae Gordon, 61, of Port Chester, New York, died Wednesday, September 22, 2004.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 2, 2004 at 2:00p.m. from the Bougahoma Baptist Church with Rev. Earnest Green officiating.
Burial will be in the Churchyard cemetary with Bell Funeral Home directing.
Samuel Lockett Jones, Jr.
Samuel Lockett Jones, Jr., died Monday, September 27, 2004.
Born January 14, 1944, he was the son of the late Samuel L. Jones, Sr. and Carrie L. Jones, formerly of Selma.
Mr. Jones was born in New York, New York and raised in Uniondale, Long Island, New York.
He served in the United States Air Force.
After 20 years of dedicated service he was honorably discharged.
It was at this time he settled in Selma, Alabama.
He is survived by 3 daughters; Kyndria, Audra and Samantha of Selma, his mother Carrie Jones of Washington, DC; brothers Norman of Norman, North Carolina; Mark of Hempstead, New York; Clarence of Hyattsville, Maryland; sisters Benita, Catherine and June of Washington, DC; Loretta of Olney, Maryland and Luella of Darien, Illinois; and sister-in-law, Ethel Marie Rayford of Silver Spring, Maryland, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother Percy Rayford and his grandmother, Roxie Rayford of Selma.
Viewing and memorial service will be Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at Miller funeral home in Selma, Alabama from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.
Burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia.
