Open Door takes CCA girls

Central Christian Academy’s Lady Warriors were beaten by Open Door, 61-12.

Leading scorers for CCA were Trisiha Stacey with six points, Tamara Stacey with 2; Rhonda Johnson, 1; and Shardee Rose with 1.

CCA 69, WAP 6

Central Christian beat West Alabama Prep, 69-6.

CCA’s

Bud Smith lead the team wth 18 points. Tee Woods had 11. Andre Pierce had 12 points and 5 rebounds. Eric Curtis had nine.

Jerome Deese had 18 points. Simuel Walker had 8.

“(It was a) real good game,” CCA Coach Carl Rawls said. “Everybody got a chance to play, they played hard. Andre pierce had a good game tonight.”

MMI girls take Open Door

The Marion Military Institute Girls team beat Open Door, 64-33.

Felicia Sprott led MMI with 22 points and 17 rebounds. Emily Easley followed with 21 points and 17 rebounds.

MMI boys beat Open Door

MMI’s boys kicked Open Door with 73-54.

Kendrick Moore and Javoris Smith both led MMI with 24 points. Smith picked up 10 boards.

Clarence Allgood Jr. contributed 16 points to the effort.

Dallas County 76, Chilton County 55

A defensive adjustment in the second quarter ignited the Dallas County High School Hornets and carried them to a 76-55 win over Chilton County on Friday night.

The victory was the fourth in five games for the Hornets (4-5).

Dallas County led 22-13 after the first quarter before Chilton County began to rally. That’s when Dallas County coach Bill Porter Jr. made a switch.

“They were breaking down our zone defense,” Porter said. “So I directed our rotation. We weren’t rotating fast enough. I made an adjustment to that and got the guys to where they were supposed to be.”

The Hornets led 40-35 at the half, but the more up-tempo defensive really paid off in the third period as Dallas County led 60-45 after the third period.

The Hornets were led by Rafel Miller with 23 points. He was followed by Michael Johnson with 17 points, Josh Spears with 14 and Artelious Dixon with 10.

Dallas County will host Maplesville on Monday and Jemison on Tuesday in the Hornets’ first area game.

CCA 71, East Memorial 32

Central Christian Academy beat East Memorial on the road, 71-32.

Tee Woods led CCA with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Jerome Deese picked up 12 points and six boards. Bud Smith pitched in with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Simuel Walker had nine points and four boards. Eric Curtis and Felix Baker both helped out with six points each.

“They played hard,” CCA Coach Carl Rawls said.

Leading East Memorial was Deon Lovejoy, with four points.

CCA’s overall record is 3-1.

CCA’s JV also won, 30-20, against East Memorial.

Central Christian’s Felix Baker led the team with 13 points, Bradley Savage had 8. The JV’s current record is 2-0.

MCS 70, East Memorial 3

The Meadowview Christian girls beat East Memorial, 70-3, on Tuesday, Dec. 7.

Leading MCS was Haley McIntyre with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Joni Lawrence had 13 and 2 boards. Elyse McIntyre had 8 points and 2 rebounds; Ashton Smith, 5 points, 3 rebounds; Carol Ann McIntyre 8 points, 2 rebounds; Micah Lolly 2 points, 5 rebounds; Brandy Moore, 4 points, 5 rebounds; Devin Altmore, 4 points, 1 rebound; and Brittany Stevens with 3 points and 2 rebounds.

Wilcox Academy 60, Monroe Academy 70

Wilcox Academy’s boys lost to Monroe Academy in an exciting overtime match, 70-60.

Leading scorer for Wilcox was Zach Kennedy, with 17 points. Andrew Wright, 13; Bo Bledsoe, 11 points and 11 boards; and Drew Bozeman, 10 points and 8 rebounds.

At the end of the first quarter, Wilcox led by one, 12-11. Fighting Monroe off through the second, Wilcox still had a narrow lead by the half, 26-25.

In the third, the tide turned with Monroe taking the lead, 45-38.

Wilcox battled back, tying the score at 57-all by the end of the fourth, forcing the game into overtime.

Monroe finally pulled out the win, 70-60.

MCS take third in Patrician tourney

The MCS boys pulled third in the Patrician Tournament in Butler, on Saturday, Dec. 4, after losing to Mobile Christian 54-27, then winning third against Patrician, 70-56.

Against Mobile, Chris Sewell led, with 15 points.

Against Patrician, Aaron Raines led, with 24 points, 16 boards and 4 assists. Chris Sewell had 18 points and 5 assists. Derek Lassiter had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Dustin Lee had 12 points.

MCS Girls win Patrician

The MCS Girls took home honors and a tourney championship, beating Mobile Christian, 50-45, and then Patrician for the trophy, 66-59.

Against Mobile, Haley led with 32 points, followed by Ashton, with 4 points. Brandy brought home 4 points, along with Carol Ann. Casey Burton pitched in with 2, Joni with 3 and Devin with 1.

Against Patrician Academy, Haley again led with 35 points and 20 rebounds. Carol Ann brough home nine points and 10 rebounds. Jonie hit 8, while Brady and Devin hit 2 each. Mallory Cassembaum pitched in with one point.

Haley, Jonie and Carol Ann were all named All-Tourney. Haley also took home MVP honors.
