Her strong efforts against Butler gave Lumpkin an average of 25 points per game for the tournament.

Senior Ashley Green finished with 21 points, three rebounds, four assists and four steals. Green also helped ignite a quick start that saw Selma run out to a 42-17 advantage.

“We showed a lot of heart today,” Selma coach Anthony Harris said. “Lumpkin showed leadership. This time, for the first time, we showed desire.”

However, Harris also said that Selma’s defense needs to improve over the second half of the season.

The Lady Saints got rolling in the third quarter, as senior Santana Seay went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line for the period. Seay finished the game with 20 points, nine rebounds, four steals and two assists.

Shemeka Simpson tossed in four assists, while Jorielle Scott added four points for the Lady Saints.
