PLANTERSVILLE – Right from the tip-off, it was easy to see that the Dallas County High School Lady Hornets were in trouble.
The Demopolis Lady Tigers came into the game ranked second in the state in the Class 4A poll. They outsized the Lady Hornets noticeably and pummeled them 56-17 Tuesday night.
“We just wanted to concentrate on trying to stop their inside came to prepare for Bibb County,” Dallas County coach Roxanne Jones said. “Bibb County is big, but not as big as Demopolis. It turned out to be a good practice for us.”
The Lady Hornets knocked down just one field goal in the first quarter. Demopolis coach Tony Pittman started hit second unit in the second quarter. The size factor didn’t change as Demopolis took a 23-7 lead into the locker room at halftime.
The Lady Hornets tallied just 10 points in the second half as the Lady Tigers handed Dallas County its 11th defeat of the season against 3 wins.
Gabrielle Essex of Demopolis led all scorers with 11 points. Courtney Travis netted 5 points for Dallas County.
