Well….

Listen, if you really want to impress that significant other this Valentine’s Day, forget all that other stuff and show them you really care.

Sign that significant other up for Vaughan Regional Medical Center’s Heart Health Seminar and Free Heart Health Screenings later this month.

“That is a more everlasting gesture of love because you want them to be in good health,” said Jackie Moultrie, Vaughan’s director of cardiology and respiratory.

Co-sponsored by Heart South Cardiovascular and Shelby Baptist Medical Center, the seminar and screenings will help Dallas County and the Black Belt battle heart disease.

One out of every four adults suffers from some form of cardiovascular disease and the numbers in the Black Belt are worse.

The seminar will be held Feb. 21 in the Medical Office Tower Classroom.

Dr. Gregory Chapman will be the guest speaker on Acute Coronary Syndrome. Refreshments will be provided.

The screenings will be Saturday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Vaughan front lobby.

The hospital will screen for blood pressure, glucose levels, cholesterol and other potential indicators of heart disease.

“We’ll be screening for any abnormalities,” Moultrie said.

Registration is required for both events.

So why not call 872-4075 and help make sure you and that significant other will be around for many more Valentine’s Days?

“We need to do right by our own heart,” hospital spokesperson Zaneta Lowe said. “Make sure that you’re getting regular check-ups.”
