Helen Hilton Powell
Helen Hilton Powell, 77, died Wednesday, April 20, 2805, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2005, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Dr. Cecil Williamson and the Rev. Earl Adams officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughter, Libby Weaver; two sons, John Powell and Billy (K.D.) Powell; a sister, Elizabeth Wright of Florida; grandsons Coleman Powell, Brandon Weaver and Derek Weaver; and daughter-in-law Nancy Powell.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Powell.
Sam Edward Moore
Sam Edward Moore, 52, of Dallas County, died Sunday, April 17, 2005, at his home.
Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 23, 2005, at New Sister Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Christopher Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.
Joe Evans
Joe “Jerry” Evans, 58, of Selma, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at a local hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include mother, Mrs. Cassie Lee Evans; one son, Clarence (Gabrielle) Evan; two step-sons, Jimmy (Mary) Wood and Anthony Woods; two daughters, Linda Evans and Natalie Evans; one stepdaughter, Mary Ann Wood; six brothers, Darnell Evans, Ray Evans, Aaron Evans, Alex Perryman (Geraldine) all of Selma, Dwight Evans (Sherry), Willie Perryman (Wilma) all of Birmingham; 12 sisters, Lola Hale (Benjamin), Catherine Richardson, Elizabeth Evans, Cassie Richardson (Donald), Geridine Moore, Margaret Smith, Juanita Williams, Louise Perryman all of Selma, Ann Fairbanks (Willie) of Birmingham, Melissa Blount (Morris) of New York, Gloria Berry (David) of Birmingham and Louise Garrett (Harry) of South Carolina; grandchildren, Clarence, Sheita, Demaria, Markeya, Jaheem, Jamieh, Darrius, Myesha, Raphael, Brielle, Darrin, Tonyeera and Omarion; a special uncle, Frank (Genva) Perryman of Detroit, Mich.; aunt, Louvenia Cook of Cleveland, Ohio; a devoted caregiver and niece for many years, Debra Evans of Selma; sister-in-law, Essie Wood of Montgomery; and a large host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Bell Evans and father, James Perryman.
Ronald Steele
Ronald Steele, 44, of Selma, died Saturday, April 16, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Selma Avenue Church of Christ with Bro. Joseph Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include mother, Sophronia Steele; two daughters, Rongela Rhodes and Klavishia Pressley; seven brothers, Arthur Steele, twin brother Donald Steele, Christopher Steele, Alexander Steele, Gregory Steele, George Steele and Louis Steele; three sisters, Brenda Steele, Shundy Stokes and Thelma Robinson; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law.
Active pallbearers are the brothers.

Benjamin McMillian, 64, of Marion Jct., died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at a local hospital.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Miller Funeral Home.
Anthony Butler Johnson
Anthony Butler Johnson, 41, of Selma, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at his home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Tabernacle of Praise Church with the Rev. Efell Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
Jimmie L. Pickens
Jimmie L. Pickens, 70, of San Francisco, Calif., former native of Lock 5 Community, Greensboro, Alabama, passed on Sunday, April 17, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Mars Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Greensboro, with the Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Greensboro with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis directing.
The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday, beginning at 12 noon.
Odessa H. Meadows
Odessa H. Meadows, 73 , a resident of Montgomery, AL died Sunday, April 17, 2005.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday April 23, 2005, at Bell Resurrection Baptist Church with the Rev. C. Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in First Baptist Church Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.
