Donnie Jane Carter Turner
Graveside services for Mrs. Donnie Jane Carter Turner age 80 of 105 Windsor Drive Demopolis, Alabama will be 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Dr. Rex Kent officiating.
Mrs. Turner was a native of Thomaston, AL and a resident of Demopolis, AL, since 1990. Mrs. Turner was a former resident of Jacksonville, FL and former owner and operator of Ace Hardware in Uniontown, AL.
Mrs. Turner was a member of the First Baptist Church of Demopolis where she attended the Tel Class or Senior Citizens Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank N. Turner.
No flowers per request of Mrs. Turner, give to charity or church of choice.

Nancy Warren Hinson
Nancy Warren Hinson died Monday, May 2, 2005, at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 4 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with The Rev. James K. Polk Van Zandt officiating. Interment will be in the Columbarium of St. Paul’s Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday in the Tipton Parlor of St. Paul’s. Mrs. Hinson was born Oct. 29, 1936 in Shelbyville, Tenn.; the daughter of The Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Noah J. Warren, who assumed the pulpit of Selma’s First Presbyterian Church in October of 1939. She was a graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School and attended Alabama Woman’s College (Montevallo), and Auburn University.
On August 23, 1957 she married William M. Hinson, who was serving an internship at the University of Alabama Birmingham, where the couple lived for two years. During his two years Naval service, they lived in Pensacola; then moved to the University of Missouri Medical Center in Columbia, where he completed his medical residency. In 1964 they returned to Selma.
Mrs. Hinson took an active role in the religious, civic and social life of the community. She served as Special Events Coordinator at St. Paul’s, was a member of Cursillo, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She also served in a bridge building partnership with the Women of Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church.
She was also a member of Selma Charity League and Pandora, and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. William M. Hinson; three daughters, Nancy Warren Hinson, Dottie Hinson Dennis (Jeff), and Catherine Hinson Johnston (Joe); two granddaughters, Mary Claire Powell and Carrie Hinson Dennis; her three sisters: Margaret Ann Warren Terry of St. Louis, Dorothy Jane Nisbet of Jacksonville, Ala., and Donna Warren of Selma; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial gifts may be made to the Special Events Fund at St. Paul’s or to Little Friends School or to a favorite charity.
William Edward Carter
Mr. William (Ed) Edward. Carter, 58 years old of Maplesville, AL, died Sunday, May 1, 2005 in Selma, Alabama.
He was born Monday, August 12, 1946 in Chilton County, Alabama, Son of the late William Thomas Carter and the late Naomie Spigner.
He worked as a Laborer in the construction industry.
Surviving are 3 sons, Mr. Dewayne Carter, Mississippi, Mr. Paul William Carter of Plantersville, Alabama, Mr. Matthew Keith Carter of Clanton, Alabama; daughter, Ms. April Denise Carter of Selma, Alabama; 4 Brothers, Mr. Clyde Carter of Billingsley, Alabama, Mr. Gordon Carter of Plantersville, Alabama, Mr. Tom Carter of Maplesville, Alabama, Mr. Ernest Carter of Plantersville, Alabama; 5 Sisters, Mrs. Katie Rhodes of Clanton, Alabama, Mrs. Margie Rhodes of Plantersville, Alabama, Mrs. Louise Smitherman of Maplesville, Alabama, Mrs. Shirley Smitherman of Maplesville, Alabama, Mrs. Syble Alhburg of Clanton, Alabama; 6 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by father, William Thomas Carter and Mother, Naomie Spigner Carter.
Friends were received at Martin Funeral Home Chapel, Clanton n, Alabama, Monday, May 2, 2005, 5:00-8:00 PM.
Services will be held at Martin Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, May 3 2005 at 2;00 PM.
Interment will follow in the Pilgrim Rest Cemetery, Maplesville, Alabama.
