Cosby Ice notches slim win to stay unbeaten

Cosby Ice’s unbeaten streak nearly came to halt at the hands of Discount Tire. But, the Ice squad was able to pull it together at the last and race to an 11-10 victory in 5-and 6-year old baseball action at the Dallas County Sportsplex on May 28.
Ladarius Wood recorded two hits and two runs to lead Cosby to the victory. He also finished the night with a pair of runs. Ryan Stokes singled twice in the game and also recorded the clutch catch to end the game and seal the victory. For Discount Tire, Frank McGill and Tywquarius Murry ripped inside the park home runs to keep the game tight. Timmy Miree singled, doubled and scored a run in the loss.
Rountree 12, Taylor Sports 11
Chris Wilson and Hunter Wolfe both banged out singles and doubles and combined to score four runs to lead the Rountree Electric squad to a narrow victory over Taylor Sports 12-11 on May 28. Kene Perryman and Tyler Neely each added hits in the winning effort. Mauevien Murray was perfect at the plate, despite his team coming up a run short on the scoreboard. Murray finished the night with three hits in three attempts and scored two runs. Ryan Harville also tacked on three hits and a trio of scores for Taylor Sports.
Mr. Roy’s 19, Johnson PB 11
Fredriquiz Richardson recorded five hits, touching all the bases on the last one en route to Mr. Roy’s 19-11 victory over Johnson Paint and Body on May 28. Michael Jones recorded three hits and a trio of runs and Lamar Crumpton recorded three hits leading their team to the win.
9-and 10-year old
El Rancheros 11, Carquest 1
Demond Blake recorded an inside the park home run, combine that with the hits from Harrison Waters and Jamie Bearden and the result is an 11-1 victory by El Rancheros over Carquest Autoparts on May 28. Michael Ward scored Carquest’s lone run, coming on a four-base hit. Shazad Ali and Sidney Riley also banged out hits in the loss.
Cahaba 18, Civitan 4
Devonte Rembert was perfect at the plate, going three-for-three with three runs to lead the Cahaba Furniture squad to a 14-run victory over the Civitan Club on May 28. Martavious Sanders and Kutler Davis also had a trio of hits each and combined to score runs en route to the victory.
Adam Sealy singled twice and scored twice for the Civitans. John Olonger singled and scored, as well as Ricky Gordon who singled twice and scored a run in the loss.
