Senator Hank Sanders made about 21 principals, assistant principals and librarians very happy Thursday afternoon.
Sanders, along with Sharing Inc., donated books to schools in his district.
Sharing Inc. founder and director Kay Doherty said giving books to schools and children that need them is one of her greatest pleasures.
“This project gives me so much joy; I’m very happy to do this,” Doherty said. “I’m so fortunate to be one link in the chain in getting these beautiful books to the beautiful children in Alabama.”
Sharing Inc. is a non-profit, community-based corporation whose mission is to provide local children in need with extra curricular activity grants and provide a place for parents to share their children’s items.
The organization raises money through the re-sale of children’s items and monetary donations.
“I love (books), I love handling them and I love thinking about all the wonderful things that happen to children when they read them. I think I’m the happiest person of all. Maybe Hank would argue, and maybe you (educators) would say you’re the happiest of all about receiving the books.”
