The Concordia College Hornets hope to end their six game losing streak Saturday against the Texas College Steers.
The Steers hold a 3-4 record for the season while the Hornets are 1-6.
So one might think this will be an easy win for the Steers, maybe not.
Last season the Hornets came from behind and scored late in the fourth quarter to take the game away from the Steers on their homecoming, 30-26.
The Steers may be out for some revenge but the Hornets seem to be ready.
Although the Hornets have not won a game since their season opener, they do not have a defeated mentality, their morale is still there.
“We are exactly where we need to be and how I want it to be,” said Hornets Coach Shepard Skanes.
The Hornets went up a division this season, from NAIA to DII. So far the only NAIA school they have faced has been Belhaven College, their only win of the season.
“I had to raise the standards to see where we belonged,” Skanes said. “You have to do something you’ve never done before to get something you’ve never had.”
“Stepping outside our normal division has given the players experience,” Skanes said.
