Southside-Selma rivalry a success

To The Editor:
Thanks goes out to head coach Frankie Peoples of Southside High and head coach Willie Maxey Jr. of Selma High.
If it wasn’t for these two men, the PTO board at Southside couldn’t have been successful on hosting this big cross-town rival.
I must tip my hat to the fans and players. The fans cheered and the players showed great sportsmanship. On two different incidents, players from both teams collided, but they helped each other to their feet.
I’ve never seen this happen in a Southside-Selma game, ever in my 44 years of living. It shows both teams are a reflection of their coach.
This game also brought out some of Southside’s most famous fans, one in particularly, former University of Alabama star and Southside graduate Chuck Davis’ father.
So, I must say, this was a night of success.
Also, thanks to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.
