The theme for this year’s camp is “Go Hard or Go Home.”

Rehab Associates director Eric Jackson is making it his mission to give local athletes the tools they need to be competitive and maximize their talent.

“We’re going to teach proper weightlifting, proper stretching, power, speed, agility – everything,” Jackson said. “We’re going to be ready to handle 75 kids if 75 kids want to come. We made it in May because track is over, baseball is over and spring training is over for football. Coaches are going to get tools to work on for summer so they can help players work on getting those big-time scholarships.”

Former college and NFL players and current college coaches will be on hand to teach every position.

Current college players that will teach in the camp include Alabama State’s T’Chelpio Woods and Georgia Tech’s Michael Johnson.

The camp will include group ad individual activities, and lunch and giveaways will be provided for all participants.

Jackson’s goal is to make better athletes and improve the quality of competition in the area as a whole.

“The talent here is unreal,” Jackson said. “I do this because I want to see us compete with Prattville, Hoover and Jeff Davis. We have more talent than they do. It just has to be refined and tuned.”

Although the camp was open to just Dallas County last year, Jackson sent invitations to schools in Autauga, Wilcox, Lowndes and Perry Counties.

The cost of the camp is $25, and the deadline to apply is April 30.
