Use walking trails

We all know that walking is great exercise. Now, Valley Grande officials are making it a little easier for their citizens to find a safe place to walk.
A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the city’s new walking trail, located on County Road 10.
There is a little more work to be done to finalize the project, but locals have already began taking strolls on the trail.
It’s been a lot of work, and many of the community’s citizens came out to take part in a trail work day held during the construction phase of the project.
“It’s really going to be nice,” Councilwoman Patsy Moore said.
Moore thanked those volunteers who have helped make the trail a reality.
This Saturday’s ribbon cutting will only be one of the many community events planned at the trail.
The city’s Fourth of July celebration will be held at that site on Saturday, June 30, with a parade on the trail beginning at 5 p.m.
There will be food, games, booths and fireworks, according to officials.
Now that the walking trail is complete, citizens just have to get up off the sofa and use it.
It takes effort to stay healthy, but the walking trails in Selma at Bloch Park, and now in Valley Grande, make it a little easier. Take advantage of these amenities.
