Mrs. Mary Besteder
DEMOPOLIS &045; Mrs. Mary Besteder, 71, of 404 McGee St., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at her residence.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Christian Chapel Baptist Church, Demopolis, with the Rev. Fred D. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Demopolis, under the direction of Larkin & Scott Funeral Home, Demopolis.
The remains will lie in state at the church, beginning 10 a.m. Saturday.
Public viewing will be 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Dora Matthews
COATOPA &045; Mrs. Dora Matthews died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at Riley Memorial Hospital, Meridian, Miss.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, Coatopa with the Rev. Albert Murdock officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors.
The remains will lie in state at the church, beginning at 10 a.m. Friday.
Public viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Doris McCarty
Mrs. Doris McCarty, 88, died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007.
She was a lifelong resident of Alabama, who was born in Thomasville in 1919. Mrs. McCarty was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Selma.
Her husband, Lewis Raymond McCarty; a brother, Guy Sellers, and a sister, Mildred Mitchell, survive her. Guy Sellers has one son named Ronnie Sellers. Mildred Mitchell has two daughters, Elaine Harris and Jean Payne. Tom Warren is a nephew of Mrs. McCarty. Mr. and Mrs. McCarty had a daughter, Lovie Deloris McCarty. Lovie Deloris McCarty had two sons, Joseph Franklin Marlar Jr. and James Michael Marlar. Joseph Franklin Marlar Jr. is married to Brenda Blevins Marlar. They have two children, Stephen Blake Mount and Joseph Franklin Marlar III. James Michael Marlar is married to Jennifer Hill Marlar. They have a daughter, Lilly Grace Marlar.
A graveside service will be held 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the New Live Oak Cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at the Lawrence Brown Funeral Home 10 a.m., Wednesday.
Ms. Alberta Lewis
LIVINGSTON &045; Ms. Alberta Lewis, 44, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Dugg Hill Primitive Baptist Church, Coatopa, where the Rev. John C. Wright is pastor. Burial will follow in Livingston City Cemetery under the direction of Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis.
Public viewing will be 1 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Joe Smith
FORKLAND &045; Mr. Joe Smith, 87, died , Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home in Demopolis.
He was the beloved husband of Hattie Smith.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Green Oak Baptist Church, Forkland with the Rev. James Reed officiating. The Rev. Ronald Craig is the pastor. Burial will follow in Old Green Oak Cemetery under the direction of Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis.
The remains will repose at the church, beginning noon Tuesday.
Public viewing will be 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
