The next superintendent of Selma City Schools may not have to deal with a few major problems.

Byrd Elementary School, located in the heart of Selma’s historic district, needs repairs that forced school officials to close off a classroom.

Leaks have produced unsafe conditions, and a floor that’s unstable. School board members have been declaring schools in emergency status and making needed repairs.
