Mrs. Maggie Moore
Prowell Whitlow
OPELIKA &8212; Mrs. Maggie Moore Prowell Whitlow, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. S. Rainer Meadows.
Mrs. Whitlow was born Sept. 13. 1919 to the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Prowell of Linden. she grew up in Linden and attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery where she received her teaching degree.
She married W. H. Whitlow Jr. on Jan. 1, 1944. They move to Selma and made their life there for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Whitlow worked as a teacher, ran the Newcomer Welcoming Service, and the n worked as a librarian at Morgan Academy until she retired.
She was a dedicated member of Church Street United Methodist Church. She moved to Opelika to live closer to her family in 2000 and attended Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Whitlow was a true southern lady who defined charm and grace. Her faith in God and love for her family came above all else.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, W. H. Whitlow Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Whitlow Meadows, son-in-law, Sterling Rainer Meadows, three grandchildren, Maggie Meadows Cooper (Jamie), Jennifer Meadows Schwenk (Bill), and Price Rainer Meadows; and three great-great-grandchildren, Elijah Sterling Schwenk, John Vincent Schwenk, and Mary Evans Cooper, all of Opelika.
Visitation will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church, Selma, from 10 a.m. until noon Monday. A graveside ceremony for the family will follow at 2 p.m. at the Old Linden Cemetery in Linden. The Rev. Doug Williams will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Church Street United Methodist Church, Selma, to Trinity United Methodist Church, Opelika, or to United Methodist Children&8217;s Home, Selma.
Final arrangements entrusted to Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home, Opelika.
Mrs. Hollis Coleman Curry
Wilmington, N.C. &8212; Mrs.
Hollis Coleman Curry passed died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008. She was surrounded by her family and the caring volunteers of Lower Cap Fear Hospice.
Born in 1934 in Perry County, Mrs. Curry retired as the Tax Collector after serving the City of Selma for over
30 years.
Mrs. Curry was proceeded in death by her parents Levie and Homer Coleman as well as a son Kyle Scott Curry.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 51 years, Dale R. Curry; daughter Karen (Tod) Sindel; and son Kelly (Angie) Curry; along with grandchildren Summer, Creek and
Makenzi Curry.
There will be a memorial service held at First Baptist church, Selma, at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in their mother&8217;s honor to 1406 Physicians

Ms. Marie Langston
Ms. Marie Langston, age 89, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, R. E. Langston; twin son, Eddie Lee Langston and granddaughter, Cynthia Kay Hayes.
Surviving are her sons, Robert (Bobby) and wife, Virginia; Wilford (Will) and wife, Tina, Joseph Harry (Joe Bill) and Fred and wife, Linda; daughters, Roberta (Berta) Fluty and Delores Penman and Sebastian Muscolino; 13 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating.
Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Fluty, Todd Langston, Wade Langston, Cliff Smith, Britton Langston, Mike Melton and Bruce Ingram.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bradly Seales.

Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at U.A.B. Hospital, Birmingham.

at Christian Chapel Baptist Church, Demopolis.
The Rev. Kelvin Roberson will be the eulogist.
Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery,
Gallion.
The remains will repose beginning at 11 a.m.,
Monday, at the church, Public viewing will be held

Valley Grande &8212; Paul Lewis Woodson Jr., age 49, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lewis and Bonnie Woodson Sr.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Woodson and brother, Mark (Robin) Woodson.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008,
at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Walker and the Rev. Robert Baynes officiating.
Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Paul was the manager of Kentucky Fried Chicken and was a member of The Elks Club,

Martha Banks Roberts, age 97, died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008.
She was preceded in death by her husband William Curtis Roberts and son, William Curtis Roberts Jr.
She is survived by three daughters, Virginia Harris (Ernest), Anne McTigue (David) and Mary Elizabeth Fitts (Bobby); three sons, Bobby (Glenda), Pete (Martha) and Jesse Roberts; grandchildren, Raymond Wilkerson, Judy Saye, Kim Wilkerson, Teri Williams, Tim Roberts, Rex Roberts, Mary Molino, Debbie Bell, Marion McCain, Dan Bell, Cindy Brock, Robin Ward, Rocky Fitts, Steve Fitts, Tina Fulford, Trina Hatfield, Rome Roberts and Shane Roberts; 27 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and special friends, Sutt and Bonnie Mollette, Betty Lester, Kathleen Plummer and Sherry Banks.

died Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at his home.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Hale Kendrick of Suttle; daughter, Joyce (Paul) Ellison, Elberta; sons, Allen (Traci) Kendrick, Suttle, and Brad Kendrick, Selma; sister, Robbie Jo Hrabe, St. Petersburg, Fla.; brother, Morris F. Kendrick, Montgomery; grandchildren, Claudia Kendrick, and Mason Kendrick, Suttle, and Kera Jo Ellison, Elberta.

Linden &8212; Mrs. Lula Dell McCall, 80, died Jan. 22, 2008, at her residence.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., today
at the Lovely Primitive Baptist Church, Gallion.
The Rev.
Roy L. Scruggs will officiate.
Interment will follow in Coleman Cemetery, Gallion.
Public viewing was held from 1-7 p.m., Saturday
at the funeral home.
