Chappell to run for city council Ward 4 seat

Willis Chappell has announced he&8217;s a candidate for Selma City Council in Ward 4.
He seeks a better quality of life for all Selma citizens and a unified city council.
The race for Ward 4 has no incumbent. Dr. Geraldine Allen, who holds the seat, has announced she&8217;ll run for city council president. Chappell is the second person to announce an intention to run for the position.
Chappell is retired from the Selma Police Department. Since his retirement, he has filled his time doing volunteer work and working with disabled veterans.
Chappell earned a bachelor&8217;s degree and master&8217;s degree from Troy University. He has completed advanced studies in management and some studies in law school. Chappell is a brigadier general in the Alabama Antlered Guard Brigade, chief of security for the Veterans Affairs Department, is the senior vice commander for Chapter 61 of the Disabled American Veterans Department, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Chappell&8217;s wife, Vivian, attends Wallace Community College Selma, and they have five children in the Selma City School System.
