Pressley to seek Ward 4 seat on Selma City Council

Carrie Pressley will seek the Ward 4 council seat during the August municipal election.
Pressley, 58, is a native of Selma and a cosmetologist.
Recently, Dr. Geraldine Allen, who represents the ward, announced her candidacy for city council president, leaving her present seat open.
Pressley will focus on the needs of senior citizens and youth. &8220;Our seniors are our greatest source of wisdom,&8221; she said, &8220;and our youth are our leaders of tomorrow.&8221;
Pressley is a member of Providence Baptist Church, Tremont; Selma-Dallas Think Tank; Selma Youth Development; and is past-director of the Selma Police Athletic League and co-director of Providence Baptist Church Youth Choir. She also is a member of Phyllis Wheatley No. 656 Order of the Eastern Star.
Pressley has attended Selma University, Selma; Merced College, Merced, Calif.; and Wallace Community College Selma.
She is married and has two children.
