Storms knock out power in parts of Selma

Motorists traveling through downtown Selma on Saturday had to pick and choose their ways through intersections after a thunderstorm rolled through the area.
Houses and businesses in downtown were without power for a couple of hours after the storm dumped heavy rains in Dallas County.
The outages forced motorists to treat most intersections in the business district as four-way stops.
Some police officers directed traffic at busy intersections.
Most of the power downtown was reported up and running by 7 p.m.
No serious accidents were reported.
Some low-lying areas held water for awhile because of the heavy rains. But no damage was reported.
Several other cities reported minor damage after thunderstorms passed through the state on Saturday.
Dime to quarter size hail was reported in Jefferson, Cleburne, Shelby, Talladega, Chilton, St. Claire, Etowah, Pickens, Sumter and Cherokee countie
Several trees were felled across the state.
