Turner Motors stays unbeaten in tourney

Two-seed Turner Motors upset one-seed Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales 9-4 in the 11-12 Dixie Youth League playoffs Saturday at the Complex.
In the top of the first inning, Turner Motors’ Woodrow Watts walked and scored on Joel Taylor’s RBI double. Taylor later scored in the inning on a passed ball.
Building on its 2-0 lead, Turner Motors’ Patrick Jones singled, and Webster Hatcher walked to lead off the second inning. Mark Garrett hit a two-RBI single to score Jones and Hatcher. Garrett later crossed the plate to make the score 5-0.
Turner Motors scored three more runs in the third inning. Watts, Taylor, and Jesse Boggs each singled and scored, pushing the lead to 8-0.
It took three innings for Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales’ bats to wake-up and attempt to get back in the game. Chris Raymond doubled and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third.
In the fourth inning, Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales cut the deficit to 8-3. Jay Barnett walked, and Davian Brantley singled. Turner Motors throwing errors would allow both Barnett and Brantley to score.
Devonte Ramsey walked and scored in the fifth inning to add to Turner Motors’ lead.
Trailing 9-3, Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales was only able to produce one run in the bottom of the sixth inning. Barnett scored his second run of the game after reaching on a fielder’s choice.
Taylor pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the win for Turner Motors. Dalton Lee took the loss for Steve Lane’s Truck & Auto Sales, giving up five runs in two innings.
