The gym’s lighting is dim and the basketball court is carpeted, but the kids are safe and have something to do.
The School of Discovery’s summer recreation program for kids aged 7-15 began in
June, and ends July 25. It is run by the Selma Recreation Department.
The program takes place in the School of Discovery’s gym Monday-Thursday from 1:30-to-5:30 p.m. It teaches basketball fundamentals, but provides other forms of recreation such as
bowling and table tennis as well.
Williams runs the program with Tommy Tisdale, head men’s basketball coach at Keith High School. Terry Jones, Jr., a Keith basketball player, assists the coaches.
