Sister Jessie J. Brown Thomas, formerly of Selma, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008. She received Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Jack Short at John the Baptist Church in Orrville, Alabama and later joined First Baptist Church of Selma. She was an educator who taught 3 years in the Dallas County School System and 25 years in the Wilcox County School System.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Hall Street Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where she had been a member for the past 25 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted God-Niece and Nephew, Mrs. Earnestine (Robert) Hall and Rev. Cyrus (Rhonda) Flanagan; a Goddaughter, Marie Dortch; brothers, Andrew Brown Jr. (Andrew “Butch” Brown III), Albert Brown, and Earlie (Mary E., Irma, Barbara, Andre and Earlie Jr.,) Brown; brother-in-law, Daniel Thomas; very devoted nieces and nephews, Coatest A. Carter, Mel (Germaine) Flanagan-Brown, Ben (Evelyn) Brown Sr., Willie Mae Brown (Boston Snowden and Chris Brown), Mariah Brown, Ishea Brown, Barbara (Daniel) Shaw, Burl Brown Jr., Solomon (Elizabeth) Brown, Carolyn (Anderson, Arissa and Andrell ) Ruffin, Renee (Wendell, Jorian) McMillion Clark, Archie (Clemie, Monica, Ryan) Armstrong; a devoted cousin, Rosie (Daniel) McMillion Sr., and children; a dear friend Annie Mae Nix and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and very devoted friends.
