Bennie Reynolds Rush, 94, of Selma died Friday, December 5, 2008 at a local assisted living facility. Mrs. Rush was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Gregsby “M.G.” Rush; her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J.L. Reynolds. She is survived by her son, James Martin “Jimmy” Rush (Linda); nephews, Lee Reynolds (Linda), Ken Rush (MiMi), Guy Rush; niece, Beth Hanks (Bruce); great niece, Alyson Reynolds; sister-in-law, Annie Rush. Services will be held at 2:30 Monday, December 8, 2008 at Church St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Zeigler, Dr. Ed Eaton, and Rev. Charlie Kendall officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Rush was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she taught Sunday School and was a very active member of the church, she was also a member of The Pilot Club for 50 years.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday in the Calhoun Parlor at the church. Active Pallbearers will be Ken Rush, Guy Rush, Brandon Gibbs, Gregsby Gibbs, Kendall Gibbs, and Earl Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom and Alan Barronton, Harold and Ruth Thrasher, Bill and Lucille Sellier, Lewis and Kitty Singley, John Ackerman, Marie Barker, Betty Crowder, and Sonny and Kerry Gibbs. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Church St. United Methodist Church or Westwood Baptist Church.
