Dec. John “Son” Johnson Sr., the son of the late Mr. Robert and Lula Johnson departed this life Friday, February 6, 2009. Services are scheduled for Saturday, February 14, 2009 at 1:00pm at Keith High School Gym officiated by Rev. Charles Lett, MD. Burial will follow in Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Miller Funeral Service.
He was born October 23, 1930 in Hazen, AL. He confessed Christ at an early age, and joined the Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board; he was also a member of Patterson Pride Lodge #509. He had a special love for his animals – Ralph, Kate, Fye, and Fye-Baby. He was the oldest motorcyclist that we knew and he loved his manicured lawns.
He was preceded in death by five sisters – Minnie, Daisy, Maple, Betty, and Anna Lee, and two brothers – Frank and Robert Jr. His fond memories will always be cherished by his devoted wife of 53 years, Mrs. Louise “Noot” Johnson; nine sons, Michael (Annette) Johnson, William (Angela) Johnson, and James (LaTonya) Pullom of Orrville, AL, John (Denise) Johnson, Jr., Rodney (Shawanda) Johnson, Pricie (Teresa) Johnson, and Curtis (Geraldine) Hunter of Selma, AL, Frank (Nepheteri) Johnson of Prattville, AL, and Charles (Linda) Jones of Fort Washington, MD; eight daughters, Lee Ester Underwood, Rena Johnson, Bertha Jones of Orrville, AL, Jawana Johnson and Latisha (Ben) Hunter of Prattville, AL, Tammy (John) Hunter of Dothan, AL, Lula Jones of Douglasville, GA, and Ida (Melvin) Faulkner of Cleveland, OH; two brothers, Andrew (Mary Alice) and Charles (Mary); one sister, Lula Johnson of Lorain, OH; two brothers, Charles (Mary) Johnson of Chicago, IL and Andrew (Mary Alice) Johnson of Orrville, AL; four sisters-in-law, Bertha (Willie P.) Burke and Lorraine Tucker of Bronx, NY, Gladys (Ron) Brewer of Providence, RI, Pinkie Smith of Orrville, AL and Bertha Rainey of Atlanta, GA; seventy-five grand-children; thirty-two great grandchildren; and a host of special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
