Joel DuBose

Joel C. DuBose, age 86, of Geneva passed away on June 30, 2009 at the Marengo Nursing Home. He was a native of Sweetwater, Ala. Mr. DuBose served in the U.S. Navy during World War II but the majority of his professional career was spent serving in various managerial positions in the grocery business until he retired at the age of 65.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 6, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Kidd-Robbins Chapel. The Rev. Scott Armstrong will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Geneva Presbyterian Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Carter DuBose and Sallye E. Swanner “Betty” Dubose; his first wife of 42 years, Violet Knott Dubose and their daughter, Jody DuBose Carroll.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Gray Ray DuBose; 2 daughters: Darlene J. Rocket and former son-in-law and friend, Johnny Rocket and Sarah J. Vice (John); Son-in-law: Clifford A. Carroll; Sister, Vermelle Cranford; Brother: Bert Dubose; 3 grandchildren: John E. Vice II, Heather Vice Cohen and Christopher A. Carroll; 2 Great Grandchildren: Kayla Cohen and Carter Carroll. Mr. Dubose’s surviving stepchildren include: Yvonne Hill, Patricia R. Ward, Bonnie Faye Webb, Johnny Ray and Nancy Tolbert; 9 step grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
