William Warren

William Ance Warren, of Jacksonville, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. He was born in Selma, Alabama on September 3, 1938 and lived there for many years. He graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi. He loved Southern Mississippi and was instrumental in helping many young people obtain an education there – many who had not considered attending college. He loved helping young people reach their goals.
He served in the U. S. Navy from 1963 to 1967 after graduating from college. He owned and operated the Thirsty Boy Restaurant in Selma for many years before moving to Jacksonville. He loved to read and he loved history, and was always eager to answer historical questions in great detail. He had many friends and was a loving friend to many. He was a member of the St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral.
He was preceded in death by his father, John E. Warren, Sr., mother, Sarah Elizabeth Warren and his sister, Lillian Beach Johnson.
He is survived by his son, Frank Hachmuth (Masheed Khajabi) of Atlanta, GA, his brother, John Edward Warren, Jr. (Barbara), of Birmingham, AL, nephews, John Edward Warren, III (Leesa), and Russ Beach (Jennifer), nieces, Sandra Beach Gromme (David) and Amy Warren; grandchildren, Sarah Hachmuth, Zaal Zafari and Rostam Zafari and many cousins in Alabama and Mississippi and many friends.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel of St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral, 256 E. Church St., Jacksonville, on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Cathedral or the Yates Family YMCA, 221 Riverside Ave., 32202.
