Rosa Nilson

Rosa Spivey Nilson, originally from Tyler, Alabama, passed away in Miami, FL last Friday. Born in 1919 to Joe and Lois Spivey, she was the oldest of seven children.
She graduated from Selma High at the age of 16 and from Livingston Teachers College at 19. After serving as a WAC during WWII, she moved to Oakland, CA where she met her husband Norris and raised their daughter Linda. Rosa moved to Miami after Norris’ death to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. Preceded by siblings Joseph, William and George Spivey.
She is survived by her daughter Linda (Larry) Dunlap, grandchildren Catherine (Henry) Miller, Michael and Patrick Dunlap and siblings Ernest and John Spivey and Alice (Robert) Gordon and numerous nieces and nephews.
