John Hines

John Harvel Hines, age 71, of Beatrice, Alabama, died peacefully at home on November 20, 2009.
He was the son of the late Harvel Fore Hines and Lois Shelley Hines.
He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1956. Johnny was a partner in the timber firm “Hines, Steele and Steele” and was active in the cattle business. He was named Monroe County Cattleman of the year and served as a director of the Monroe County Cattlemen’s Association and Monroe Academy. He also served on the Farm Services Committee. Johnny was a member of the Beatrice Community Church.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Charlene Anderson Hines and two children, a son, Jonathan Hudson Hines (LaSha Averett) of Beatrice and a daughter, Michele Hines Haney (Chris) of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Johnny is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Benton Hines Haney, Jonathan Hudson Hines, Jr., Merytt Anderson Haney, John Harvel Hines, II, and Averett Newton Hines. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia Hines Steele (Jerry) of Beatrice and a brother, James Shelley Hines (Jackie) of Selma, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Monroeville Baptist Church, in Monroeville, Alabama, on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Baptist Cemetery, Pineville Road, in Beatrice, Alabama.
There will be a visitation at Johnson Funeral Home in Monroeville on Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 5:00-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are nephews: David Steele, Hines Steele, Michael Lenga, Steve Lenga, Chris Hines, Mark Anderson, and Justin Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Bigger, Carl Brantley, Wayne Harrison, Wayne King, Billy Morgan, Danny Strickland, and Mack Watson.
