Pauline Geraldine (Moseley) McGinnis was born January 19, 1917 in Jefferson County, Alabama to Carrie Bell Lockett and Joseph Nathaniel Moseley, who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of three siblings.
Her brother Otha and sister Hattie Mae both preceded her in death.
Pauline accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Selma, AL where she attended throughout her childhood with her family.
Pauline received her early education at Clark School and Selma University in Selma, AL and later attended Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta, GA where she received her degree as a Registered Nurse.
She practiced nursing in Beloit, AL after graduating from Grady and later moved to Detroit, MI and worked in various other cities until finally moving to Los Angeles. After moving to Los Angeles she met and married Eugene McGinnis who preceded her in death. They raised their 2 children along with a niece.
Pauline loved her family and was affectionately called “Mom” by all of the neighborhood children and friends of her children and many church members.
Pauline joined Miracle Baptist Church in its founding year, 1953 under the pastorate of the late Lawrence A. Felix. She shared a unique personal relationship with Pastor Emeritus, James W. Bobo and later developed a relationship similar in uniqueness with Pastor Arthur Thompson. She remained faithful and active in the church until this year when her health failed and prevented her from attending.
She was employed by Los Angeles County for over 40 years. She worked at UCLA Medical Center and was an emergency room supervisor at UCLA Harbor and Martin Luther King Hospitals, retiring from Martin Luther King Hospital in 1980. After retirement she volunteered as the school nurse at Miracle Baptist Christian School for over 15 years. She loved children and volunteering as the school nurse at Miracle.
She was an active member of the Grady School of Nurses Conclave and was awarded their highest honor, The Ludie Andrew Distinguished Service Award. She looked forward with anticipation to each of their biannual meetings and attended until her health began to fail and she was unable to travel.
She loved to travel and traveled many places throughout the world, one of her favorite and most memorable trips being her trip to the Holy Land with her favorite traveling companion and long time friend Charlotte McShann.
She leaves to cherish her memory her 2 children Melvin Mosley (wife, Elizabeth) and Eugenia Blanding (husband, David); 7 grandchildren Eric, Detra, LaKiesha, Marlon, Melanie, Regina, and Jessica; 5 great-grandchildren, Brandon, April, Danielle, Mikia and Qadan; one great-great-grand , Ariana; nieces Joan Samuel and Warnell Benford, and Cousin Ida Mae Barnes and daughters Gwendolyn and Terri with whom she shared an endearing bond and a host of other family members and friends to numerous to name.
Pauline was a phenomenal woman; she loved her family, she loved the Lord, she loved her church, she loved life and traveled the world over and our memories of her will live in our hearts forever.
