James R. (Randy) Thompson, 67 passed away January 1st, 2010 in a local hospital after a brief battle with colon cancer. Randy enjoyed volunteering and a few of his favorites included Pike Road and Rolling Hills VFD, American Red Cross, Coast Guard Auxiliary, Air Force MARS and Alabama River Trails. Randy was a Master Captain and took delight in operating his river-boat “Phoenix” both in Montgomery and then in Selma.
Randy is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon, daughter, Jennifer, son Chaplain Jeffery Ellis and his wife Libbi, granddaughters Emily and Olivia Ellis. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9th, 2010 at 2pm, from Selma Marina, Selma Alabama. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
