Plantersville siren out of service
Published 9:39 am Saturday, April 24, 2010
The Dallas County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency would like to let persons living in the Plantersville area the outdoor weather siren is being repaired and will not sound should a tornado warning be issued in association with the severe weather threat Saturday.
The monthly testing of the sirens is necessary to ensure that all systems are functioning properly. During the April test, this siren did not function and is currently being repaired. Parts have been ordered to make the necessary repairs, however, have not been received by the contractor. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, please plan now to have an alternate source to receive weather warnings.
The sirens are designed to be audible to people that are outdoors. A weather radio should be used inside the home to alert you of severe weather. All residents in the Plantersville area should not depend on this siren to sound, should threatening weather occur, please tune into local media outlets as well as have a NOAA weather radio to receive warnings.
