We need results, not problems

The news the much anticipated and much-needed widening project of Ala. Hwy. 22 near Valley Grande may be delayed is disappointing.
Any road project is already a lengthy project to begin with, but now it appears political games, congressional stalls and Federal cutbacks are causing this project to be stretched out even further.
This area’s economic engine is reliant on a strong highway infrastructure and any investment in any main thoroughfares is a positive step.
Thus the reason we were so excited about this widening project and encouraged about an improved northern route.
Selma and Dallas County have tremendous potential and it is going to take everyone — including our federal partners  — rowing in the same direction for us to reach that potential.
It would be a shame for all of us locally to get everything in order only to have some political misstep in Washington, D.C., cause us to miss out on something great.
Let’s hope the funding needed to get this project completed is approved and done so quickly, so we can move on to the next item on our to-do list.
